Join us for a creative and educational workshop to promote and encourage circular fashion. During this workshop participants will learn how to mend a garment or make an alteration to a garment by hand. Baaby founder Amelia Mercoulia will be hosting the event and she will teach the following:
The idea was inspired Amelia’s grandparents who immigrated from Greece to Australia in the 1950s, both grandmothers working as seamstresses in Melbourne. The event will pay homage to their hard work and meticulous attention to detail in a time when Melbourne had a booming ragtrade.
The workshop date is Saturday 26th October at Library at the Dock - 107 Victoria Harbour Promenade, Docklands. There are two sessions which will run for 1.5 hours each, all materials for learning to mend your garment will be supplied. Refreshments upon arrival.
Made-to-order means the garment is individually cut out and sewn by hand in our Melbourne studio or by our local dressmaker. It eliminates the issue of wasted garments, minimises fabric waste and ensures no over-ordered garments which so often end up contributing to the ever growing problem of fashion landfill.
By adopting a made-to-order approach for selected styles we not only reduce our environmental impact, but also ensure that every piece is crafted with precision and care, created exclusively for you.
